Amanda Nguyen

Hello, and welcome—I’m glad you’re here.

I am a master’s-level counseling student at Santa Clara University, currently completing my graduate counselor training under the supervision of Dr. Cocchiola. In this role, I support members of this practice while continuing to deepen my clinical skills and education.

Alongside my academic training, I bring over three years of volunteer advocacy experience supporting survivors exiting coercively controlling relationships, as well as recent involvement in policy and systems-level efforts aimed at improving protections for survivors.

My work is informed by both professional training and lived experience. I am a survivor of long-term coercive control, including post-separation abuse that escalated through the misuse of legal systems and the manipulation of parent–child relationships. This survivor-informed lens, combined with clinical supervision and trauma-informed principles, allows me to offer grounded, compassionate support to parents navigating complex and often overwhelming circumstances.

My approach centers on safety, emotional regulation, and helping clients feel seen, understood, and supported as they move forward.
